Bridge index

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001498

The number of central atoms joined by one particular bridging ligand in a polynuclear coordination compound, written as a right subscript n on the Greek letter μ placed before the ligand name or formula. The index 2 is normally omitted, so a plain μ denotes a ligand bridging two centres, while μ3 or μ4 denotes one ligand spanning three or four centres.
