κ
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006295
A prefix symbol in coordination nomenclature, the kappa convention, that marks the individual donor atoms through which a ligand attaches to a central atom, written before the element symbol of each donor atom. A right superscript gives the number of such attachments, so κ2P in a diphosphine name means two phosphorus atoms are bound. It differs from η, which denotes bonding through contiguous atoms (hapticity).
