Cyclophanes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002826
Macrocyclic compounds characterized by a cyclic array of aromatic units, such as benzene rings, linked by two or more bridges. These bridges connect non-adjacent positions on the aromatic rings, forcing them into close proximity and often leading to unusual conformations. The nomenclature for cyclophanes specifies the number of aromatic units and the length of the bridging chains.
