Helicenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005160
A class of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons characterized by ortho-fused benzene rings or other aromatic units that are arranged in a helical fashion. This helical structure results in molecular chirality, even in the absence of traditional chiral centers. They exhibit unique optical properties due to their inherent helicity.
