Helical polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005159
A polymer molecule whose constituent atoms trace a helical path in space, with the repeating units arranged in a regular spiral around a central axis. This conformation arises from steric interactions and intramolecular forces, such as hydrogen bonding, that favor a specific, ordered three-dimensional structure. The pitch of the helix describes the axial distance advanced in one complete turn of the spiral.
