Sandwich compounds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010510
Organometallic compounds where a metal atom is 'sandwiched' between two planar organic ligands, typically aromatic rings. The metal forms coordinate bonds with the pi-electron systems of both ligands. Ferrocene, with an iron atom between two cyclopentadienyl rings, is a classic example of this structural motif.
