Semioxamazones

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013544

Compounds of the type R2C=N-NH-CO-CO-NH2, formally made by condensing an aldehyde or ketone with the hydrazide of oxamic acid, known as semioxamazide. They carry a C=N bond joined through nitrogen to an oxamoyl group. Like the analogous semicarbazones, they are crystalline derivatives used to characterize carbonyl compounds.
