Semiochemical

A chemical substance or mixture that carries a message between organisms, mediating interactions within or between species. These compounds influence behavior or physiological processes, acting as signals or cues. Pheromones are a type of semiochemical that mediate intraspecific communication, while allomones and kairomones mediate interspecific interactions.
