Synomone
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013631
A semiochemical compound produced by one organism that evokes a behavioral or physiological response in another organism, benefiting both the emitter and the receiver. These chemical signals mediate interspecies interactions, such as those between plants and pollinators. An example is the scent released by flowers to attract insects for pollination.
