Syngenetic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013630
Describing a substance or mineral deposit that was formed at the same time as the surrounding rock or matrix in which it is found. This contrasts with epigenetic deposits, which are introduced into the host rock at a later time. For example, a metal sulfide deposit precipitated on the seafloor concurrently with the accumulation of surrounding sediments is considered syngenetic.
