Carbonyl imides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001654
Reactive 1,3-dipolar compounds of the form R2C=O+-N(-)R, in which the carbonyl oxygen carries the positive charge and is bonded to a negatively charged nitrogen. They are the nitrogen counterparts of carbonyl ylides, R2C=O+-C(-)R2, and carbonyl oxides, R2C=O+-O(-). Like other 1,3-dipoles they are expected to add to multiple bonds in 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions that give five-membered rings.
