Nitrile ylides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007957
Unsaturated 1,3-dipolar compounds characterized by a nitrogen atom triply bonded to a carbon atom, which is also bonded to another carbon atom bearing a negative charge. These species are resonance-stabilized, with charge delocalization across the C-N-C framework. Nitrile ylides are highly reactive intermediates, commonly generated from iminochlorides and used in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions.
