Nitrile imides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007954
Unsaturated 1,3-dipolar compounds characterized by a nitrogen atom triply bonded to a carbon atom, which is also bonded to another nitrogen atom. These species exhibit resonance structures with positive and negative charges distributed across the molecule. Nitrile imides are highly reactive intermediates in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions, forming five-membered heterocyclic rings.
