Nitrile sulfides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007956

Unsaturated 1,3-dipolar compounds featuring a nitrogen atom triply bonded to a carbon atom, which is also bonded to a sulfur atom. These species exhibit resonance structures with charge separation across the C-N-S framework. Nitrile sulfides are reactive intermediates that undergo 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions, typically forming five-membered heterocyclic rings containing sulfur and nitrogen.
