Imides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005601
Organic compounds characterized by two acyl groups bonded to a nitrogen atom. They are derivatives of ammonia or primary amines where two hydrogen atoms on nitrogen are replaced by acyl groups, or derivatives of dicarboxylic acids where the hydroxyl groups are replaced by a nitrogen atom. Cyclic imides, such as succinimide, are common and are often formed from dicarboxylic acids and ammonia.
