Ureides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012466
Organic compounds containing the functional group R-NH-CO-NH-CO-R', which are N-substituted derivatives of urea where one or both hydrogen atoms of the amino groups are replaced by acyl groups. They are formally diacyl derivatives of urea, formed by the reaction of urea with carboxylic acids or their derivatives. Barbituric acid is a well-known example of a cyclic ureide.
