Acyl halides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012838
Organic compounds containing an acyl group directly bonded to a halogen atom. They are highly reactive derivatives of carboxylic acids, where the hydroxyl group of the carboxyl function is replaced by a halogen, such as chlorine or bromine. Acyl chlorides, for instance, are commonly used as reagents in organic synthesis for acylation reactions.
