Hydrazones

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005453

Organic compounds formed by the condensation reaction of a hydrazine with an aldehyde or a ketone, containing the C=N-NH2 functional group. They are derivatives of aldehydes and ketones where the carbonyl oxygen is replaced by the =N-NH2 group. Phenylhydrazones are commonly used for the characterization of carbonyl compounds.
