Neoflavones

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007817

A class of flavonoids characterized by a 4-arylcoumarin (or 4-aryl-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one) skeleton. These compounds are derived from a C6-C3-C6 biosynthetic pathway, where the second C6 unit is attached at position 4 of the coumarin ring. They are structurally distinct from other flavonoid classes such as flavones and isoflavones due to the position of the aryl substituent.
