Terpenoids
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011883
A broad class of natural products structurally related to terpenes, but which have been modified through oxidation, rearrangement, or the addition of other functional groups. While terpenes are strictly hydrocarbons, terpenoids contain oxygen atoms and other elements. They are derived from isoprene units and are found in a wide variety of organisms, often possessing biological activity.
