Neuropathic pain

Chronic pain arising from damage or dysfunction of the somatosensory nervous system. This type of pain is often described as burning, shooting, or tingling, and can occur spontaneously or in response to normally non-painful stimuli. Conditions such as diabetes, shingles, and spinal cord injury are common causes of neuropathic pain.
