Antineuralgic

Describing a substance or treatment that alleviates or suppresses neuralgic pain, which is characterized by severe, sharp pain along the course of a nerve. These agents act on the nervous system to reduce the transmission or perception of pain signals. Common antineuralgic medications include anticonvulsants and tricyclic antidepressants.
