Anaesthetic

A substance that causes a reversible loss of sensation, either locally or throughout the entire body. These agents achieve their effect by interfering with nerve impulse transmission, preventing the perception of pain or other stimuli. General anaesthetics induce unconsciousness, while local anaesthetics block sensation in a specific area.
