Anesthetic

A drug that induces a temporary and reversible loss of sensation or awareness. General anesthetics cause a loss of consciousness, making them suitable for major surgical procedures, while local anesthetics block nerve transmission in a specific area of the body without affecting consciousness. Examples of general anesthetics include inhaled gases like sevoflurane and intravenous drugs like propofol.
