Autoimmune neuropathy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000980

A condition resulting from damage to peripheral nerves caused by the body's own immune system. The immune response can target the myelin sheath that insulates nerve fibers or the nerve axons themselves, leading to symptoms like numbness, weakness, and pain. Specific examples of autoimmune neuropathies include Guillain-Barré syndrome and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).
