Aza-di-π-methane rearrangement

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001044

A photochemical rearrangement of 1-aza-1,4-dienes or 2-aza-1,4-dienes, usually from the triplet excited state, that gives cyclopropyl imines. It is the nitrogen analogue of the di-pi-methane rearrangement, which converts 1,4-dienes into vinylcyclopropanes, with nitrogen replacing one of the terminal sp2 carbons rather than the central sp3 carbon.
