gp120
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004971
A glycoprotein found on the surface of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that facilitates its entry into host cells. This protein binds specifically to the CD4 receptor and a coreceptor on the surface of target immune cells, such as T lymphocytes. Its high variability makes it a challenging target for vaccine development.
