Immunodeficiency

A condition characterized by a weakened or absent immune response, leading to increased susceptibility to infections and certain cancers. Immunodeficiencies can be primary, due to genetic defects, or secondary, acquired as a result of disease, malnutrition, or immunosuppressive treatments. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is a common cause of secondary immunodeficiency.
