Thymic atrophy

A reduction in the size and cellularity of the thymus, a primary lymphoid organ responsible for T lymphocyte maturation. This condition results in impaired immune function due to a decreased output of mature T cells. It can be induced by stress, infection, malnutrition, or exposure to certain chemicals and radiation.
