Hypoplasia

The incomplete development or underdevelopment of an organ or tissue, resulting in fewer cells than normal. This developmental anomaly leads to a smaller than normal size and often impaired function of the affected structure. It differs from atrophy, which is the reduction in size of a previously normal organ.
