Immune complex disease
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005637
A condition resulting from the deposition of antigen-antibody complexes in tissues and blood vessels. These immune complexes activate the complement system and recruit inflammatory cells, leading to tissue injury and inflammation. The clinical manifestations depend on the site of deposition, which can include the kidneys, joints, skin, and blood vessel walls, as seen in conditions like serum sickness and systemic lupus erythematosus.
