Serum sickness

A type III hypersensitivity reaction that occurs in response to the administration of foreign proteins, such as antitoxins or certain medications. It is characterized by the formation of immune complexes that deposit in tissues, leading to symptoms like fever, rash, joint pain, and lymphadenopathy. Symptoms typically appear 7 to 14 days after exposure.
