Hypokalemia
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005544
A condition in which the concentration of potassium ions in the blood serum is abnormally low. This electrolyte imbalance can disrupt normal cellular functions, particularly in nerve and muscle cells, leading to symptoms such as muscle weakness or cardiac arrhythmias. A typical healthy adult maintains serum potassium levels between 3.5 and 5.0 millimoles per liter.
