Cryoglobulin

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002744

An antibody or a complex of immunoglobulins in the blood serum that reversibly precipitates at temperatures below normal body temperature (37 °C) and redissolves upon warming. The presence of these proteins can lead to cryoglobulinemia, a condition that may cause inflammation of small blood vessels (vasculitis), joint pain, and kidney damage. Cryoglobulins are classified into three types based on their monoclonal or polyclonal immunoglobulin composition.
