Cryogenic trap
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002743
A device used to condense and collect volatile or semi-volatile compounds from a gas stream by cooling a section of tubing or a packed column to very low temperatures. This technique is often employed for preconcentration of analytes before their introduction into a gas chromatograph. Common coolants include liquid nitrogen or carbon dioxide.
