Needle trap

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007800

A sampling device consisting of a hollow needle packed with a sorbent material, used for the extraction and preconcentration of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds from gaseous or liquid samples. The analytes are adsorbed onto the sorbent within the needle and then thermally desorbed directly into a gas chromatograph for analysis. This technique offers a solvent-free and portable approach to sample preparation.
