Dynamic headspace analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003492
A technique for analyzing volatile compounds in a sample by continuously sweeping an inert gas through the headspace above the sample, trapping the volatilized analytes onto a sorbent material. The trapped analytes are then desorbed and introduced into a gas chromatograph for separation and detection. This method offers higher sensitivity than static headspace analysis due to the continuous removal of analytes from the headspace.
