Static headspace analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011328
A technique for analyzing volatile compounds in a sample by equilibrating the sample in a sealed vial at a constant temperature, allowing the volatile analytes to partition into the gas phase above the sample. A portion of this headspace gas is then injected into a gas chromatograph for separation and detection. This method is widely used for environmental and food analysis.
