Passive sampling

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008535

A sampling technique where analytes are collected from a medium by diffusion or permeation into a sampling device, without actively pumping the medium through the device. The accumulation of analytes in the sampler occurs over an extended period, providing a time-weighted average concentration. This method is often used for monitoring environmental pollutants.
