Truncus arteriosus

A single large arterial trunk that arises from both ventricles of the heart in the developing fetus, failing to divide into the aorta and pulmonary artery. This congenital heart defect results in mixed blood flow to the body and lungs. Surgical correction is typically required shortly after birth.
