Conal growth hypothesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002354
A theory describing the developmental process of the outflow tract of the embryonic heart, specifically the formation of the aorta and pulmonary artery. This hypothesis posits that the conus arteriosus undergoes differential growth and septation to properly separate the systemic and pulmonary circulations. Defects in this process can lead to congenital heart malformations.
