Transposition of the great arteries

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012266

A congenital heart defect where the two main arteries leaving the heart, the aorta and the pulmonary artery, are switched. The aorta originates from the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery from the left ventricle, leading to two separate circulatory systems. This condition results in cyanosis and requires surgical intervention soon after birth.
