Trueness

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012332

How near the mean of a large series of measured values lies to a true or accepted reference value. It reflects the systematic error of a measurement procedure, the part of the error that does not average out, and is usually reported as bias, the difference between that mean and the reference value. Trueness is a different property from precision, which describes scatter and says nothing about bias.
