Standard error of the mean

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011294

A statistical measure of the variability of sample means around the true population mean. It quantifies how much the sample mean is expected to vary from the population mean if multiple samples were taken. This value decreases as the sample size increases, indicating a more precise estimate of the population mean.
