Shotgun proteomics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010832
A method for identifying and quantifying proteins in a complex biological sample by first digesting the entire protein mixture into peptides. These peptides are then separated and analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. The resulting mass spectral data are subsequently used to infer the identities and abundances of the original proteins.
