Shotgun lipidomics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010830
An analytical approach in lipidomics that involves the direct analysis of total lipid extracts without prior chromatographic separation. This method typically uses mass spectrometry to identify and quantify a broad spectrum of lipid species present in a biological sample. It relies on the unique mass-to-charge ratios and fragmentation patterns of different lipid classes and molecular species for their characterization.
