Lipid vesicle

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006657

A spherical structure formed by the self-assembly of lipid molecules in an aqueous environment, creating a bilayer membrane that encloses an internal aqueous compartment. These structures are stabilized by hydrophobic interactions among the lipid tails and hydrophilic interactions between the lipid heads and water. They are commonly used as models for biological membranes and for drug delivery systems.
