Lipid remodelling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006656
The dynamic process by which the fatty acid composition of lipids, particularly glycerophospholipids, is altered within cells. This involves the removal of existing fatty acyl chains and their replacement with different ones, often mediated by phospholipases and acyltransferases. It influences membrane fluidity, signaling, and cellular responses to stress.
