-Omics, -omes

Suffixes used to denote fields of study concerning the totality of a specific class of biological molecules (-omics) or the complete set of those molecules themselves (-omes). For example, proteomics is the study of the proteome, the entire complement of proteins expressed by a cell or organism. These large-scale biological studies rely on high-throughput analytical techniques like mass spectrometry and DNA sequencing.
