Sanger sequencing
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010512
A method for determining the nucleotide sequence of DNA, based on the selective incorporation of chain-terminating dideoxynucleotides during DNA replication. This technique generates DNA fragments of varying lengths, which are then separated by size to reveal the sequence. It was a foundational method for genome sequencing.
